In the inner-west of Sydney, Associate Professor Ross G. Menzies has been providing Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for couples with relationship problems for over 15 years.

Professor Menzies completed his B.Sc (Psych), M.Psychol (both with first class honours), then a PhD in clinical psychology at the University of NSW.  He is currently Associate Professor of Psychology and Head, School of Behavioural and Community Health Sciences at the University of Sydney.

Professor Menzies is the NSW President, and past National President, of the Australian Association for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.  Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is the most established treatment approach for dysfunctional relationships. Professor Menzies is the Editor of Behaviour Change, Australia’s national CBT journal. Since 2002 he has been the overseas expert trainer in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy at the National University of Singapore (NUS).  His appointment at NUS involves, among other things, teaching postgraduate diploma students high-level CBT skills in the area of couples therapy.

Professor Menzies holds several other honorary appointments, including Honorary Associate of the Department of Medical Psychology at Westmead Hospital, Honorary Associate of the Sydney Clinic, and Honorary Associate of the ASRC. He is the Senior Clinical Supervisor for psychologists in the Adult Mental Health Team and the Child, Youth and Family Team in the Division of Mental Health at St George Hospital.  He was a member of the Mood Disorders Research Centre Advisory Committee at Prince of Wales Hospital for two years.

Professor Menzies is an active researcher with numerous national competitive grants in a variety of areas. He has produced over 100 international journal manuscripts, books and book chapters and is regularly invited to speak at conferences and leading universities and institutions around the world. He continues to attract patients from across metropolitan Sydney, rural NSW, interstate and from overseas, with many individuals and couples travelling thousands of kilometres to receive treatment at his private practice.
